Tailoring Extra-Strength of a TWIP Steel by Combination of Multi-Pass Equal-Channel Angular Pressing and Warm Rolling

Increasing the yield stress of twinning-induced plasticity (TWIP) steels is a demanding task for modern materials science. This aim can be achieved by microstructure refinement induced heavy straining. We feature microstructural evolution and mechanical performance high-manganese TWIP steel subjected to deformation treatment different combinations equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) rolling at temperatures. The effect on tensile properties multi-pass ECAP process subsequent reported as well. show that combined procedure allows us further increase strength processed workpieces due gradual transition from banded structure heterogeneous hierarchical consisting fragments, dislocation configurations nano- micro-twins colonies. Rolling specimens 375 °C allowed achieve an extraordinary strength, highest among all investigated cases, while best trade-off between elongation failure was reached using followed 500 °C. study shows great potential techniques enhance steels.
